“ The highlight of my trip to Montreal was visiting Chez Bong. The server was kind and friendly, and I believe it was the owner who came out personally to help us when we asked about parking—very thoughtful and helpful. While some of the photos I saw showed the black bean noodles (jajangmyeon) looking smooth, the sauce in the platter-style version we ordered tasted more like raw black bean paste, as if it hadn’t been fully cooked. The jjamppong was a bit bland as well. That said, the kanpunggi was delicious. Food is not about right or wrong—it’s a matter of the restaurant’s own style, so I have no complaints.
